The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) has appointed Dr Venkatesh Sarvasiddhi as the new managing director for India and South Asia, strengthening our long-term commitment to supporting the region’s rapidly growing and globally influential chemistry community.

Dr Sarvasiddhi, who has until recently been Springer Nature managing director, India Research Business and chair of the board of Springer Nature India, will guide the Royal Society of Chemistry’s work across India and South Asia, building on our longstanding presence and deep partnerships with universities, research organisations, industry and government.

The RSC works at the heart of the global chemical sciences community to create a future that is more open, more green, and more equal. India and South Asia play a vital role in that mission. With world leading research institutions, a dynamic scientific workforce, and a thriving innovation ecosystem, the region is home to a vibrant and expanding community of chemical scientists. The RSC is committed to supporting this growth through high quality publishing, professional development, collaborative programmes, and opportunities that connect researchers across borders.

“India and South Asia are home to extraordinary scientific talent, and the region’s contributions to global chemistry are only growing. I look forward to building on the strong foundations already in place, working closely with world leading institutions and researchers to further strengthen partnerships, expand opportunities, and support the community in driving forward impactful chemical science,” said Dr. Sarvasiddhi.

Dr Helen Pain, chief executive, RSC said, “India and South Asia are essential to the present and future of the global chemistry community. The region’s researchers and institutions consistently demonstrate world-class excellence and an ambition to use chemistry to tackle society’s biggest challenges. This exciting appointment reflects our commitment to supporting that vision, and to ensuring that the Royal Society of Chemistry continues to enable the chemical sciences to make the world a better place.”

The RSC looks forward to the next chapter of growth and collaboration under Venkatesh’s leadership, as we continue to invest in and champion the chemical sciences community across India and South Asia, she added.
