SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CORE Diagnostics, a global leader in cancer diagnostics and genomic testing.

With cancer care increasingly moving towards personalised and precision-based treatment, expertise in genetic diagnostics and next-generation sequencing is becoming indispensable. This partnership is designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world oncology practice, providing students with direct exposure to cutting-edge diagnostic technologies, genetic counselling frameworks and industry-led research.

Dr S Ponnusamy, registrar, SRMIST, emphasised the long-term academic and clinical significance of the collaboration; “We are committed to providing our students with exposure to emerging domains that shape the future of healthcare. This partnership with CORE Diagnostics will enable our students to gain hands-on experience, benefit from industry expertise, and participate in cutting-edge research in genetic diagnostics and counselling, preparing them to become leaders in this critical field.”

Dinesh Chauhan, CEO, CORE Diagnostics, highlighted the growing demand for specialised talent in cancer diagnostics. With operations across 11 countries and nearly 1,000 oncology cases handled daily, CORE Diagnostics brings deep clinical and technological expertise to the partnership. He underscored the need for well-trained professionals who understand both the scientific and ethical dimensions of genetic counselling and precision medicine.

The MoU is expected to significantly enhance student competitiveness in the rapidly evolving healthcare sector. By working alongside industry experts and engaging with advanced genomic technologies, students will graduate not only with academic knowledge but with applied clinical insight, a crucial differentiator in today’s job market. Beyond training, the collaboration also opens avenues for joint research initiatives aimed at advancing cancer diagnostics and improving patient outcomes.

As oncology treatment continues to evolve towards data-driven, individualised care, this SRMIST–CORE Diagnostics partnership signals a forward-looking commitment to strengthening India’s healthcare talent ecosystem ensuring that the next generation of professionals is equipped to lead in precision medicine and cancer care innovation.
