PharmaTech & LabTech Expo to revolutionize industry

Nandita Vijayasimha, Bengaluru
Thursday, December 18, 2025, 08:00 Hrs  [IST]

the 21st PharmaTech & LabTech Expo, positioned as one of the largest pharma exhibitions in India, is all set to bring together industry professionals, innovators, and thought leaders from across the pharmaceutical spectrum.

This mega exposition, co-located with the 74th Indian Pharmaceutical Congress, being held in Bengaluru at the Bengaluru International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) from December 19-21, 2025, will showcase innovation and advanced technologies in the lifesciences sector. This edition is also concurrently held with the Contract Manufacturing and Raw & Packaging Material Expo.

According to Arjav Shah, CEO, Pharma Technology Inex.com, “This expo gathers industry professionals from all over the world, making it one of the largest B2B trade events in the lifesciences. It provides a platform for the   industry to network, exchange knowledge, and showcase innovations in healthcare.

Key role of technology in pharma industry
Technology plays a central role in the pharmaceutical industry, with the Covid-19 pandemic highlighting the essential role of digital technologies, such as remote monitoring of production plants. These innovations have proven indispensable in ensuring operational efficiency and continuity, Shah told Pharmabiz in a telecon.

Take for instance, artificial intelligence (AI) for drug discovery, blockchain for supply chain security. We are seeing with Internet of Things (IoT) & sensors, the establishment of smart factories, automated quality control, and real-time supply chain tracking. In addition, Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is automating administrative and repetitive tasks. The emergence of eSignatures & digital workflows has streamlined documentation and regulatory processes. All these find a place at the PharmaTech Expo & LabTech Expo, he added.

PharmaTechnologyindex.com a division of the KNS Group which is a leading organiser of pharmaceutical exhibitions in India has successfully organised the same event in the past at Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Chandigarh, Mumbai, Indore and Bengaluru too. These shows garnered a consistent growth of about 20 per cent in visiting entrepreneurs and participating companies. Our focus is to ensure display of latest and relevant technology to the industry, said Shah adding that this has always been a proven platform to find world class technology and cost-effective solutions for pharmaceutical productions.

Similarly, this year’s event too will set the stage to witness a range of pharma machinery and equipment, laboratory equipment, portrayal of contract manufacturing services, raw materials, packaging solutions.

The key reasons to attend this event would be to get updated on the latest trends explore new products and services. It will offer immense opportunities for collaborations between academia, industry, and research institutions, which are driving innovation in the sector, said Shah.

Giving a further fillip to the event are Union government’s slew of initiatives like the Research Linked Incentive (RLI) scheme, with a planned financial outlay of $600 million from FY24 to FY28, to boost R&D in the pharmaceutical sector, Biotechnology Research Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development (Bio-RIDE) program to promote biotech research and innovation, he noted.

Furthermore, top Indian pharma companies have consistently increased their R&D spending, focusing on high-value products like biosimilar and innovative therapies. The emerging technologies like gene editing, cell therapy, and regenerative medicine are some of the areas with significant potential for growth.

Start-ups in pharma and biotech will also benefit significantly from the exposition, gaining access to global networks, cutting-edge technologies, and investment opportunities. This platform will empower emerging companies to showcase their innovations, forge strategic partnerships, and accelerate their growth within the rapidly evolving global healthcare market.

The other big plusses to reinstate the importance of the event are India’s pharmaceutical exports projected to reach U$60-65 billion by 2030 and US$350 billion by 2047 and the pharmaceutical contract-manufacturing sector expected to reach US$ 25 billion by 2035, driven by cost advantages and growing biologics expertise.

Hence, this three-day exposition will serve as a key driver for the success of the ‘Make in India’ programme of the Union government, stimulating innovation, collaboration, and growth across sectors. By attracting global attention and investment, it will contribute significantly to strengthening India’s economic landscape and enhancing its role as a global manufacturing leader, said Shah.

Karnataka leads as a tech powerhouse
Karnataka government has committed a whopping Rs. 600 crore towards advancing deeptech innovations. A primary focus of this funding will be the AI-pharma sector, which is set to revolutionize the pharmaceutical industry through breakthroughs in drug discovery, personalized medicine, and healthcare solutions powered by artificial intelligence.

As life sciences takes centre-stage, the investment highlights the state’s commitment to nurturing a robust ecosystem which combines technological advancements with lifesciences, positioning Karnataka as a key player in the global deeptech landscape. In this back drop, industry does view the PharmaTech Expo & LabTech Expo is designed to position Karnataka as a leading technology powerhouse.

No doubt pharmaceuticals in India is witnessing a transformative surge as AI reshapes every stage of drug development, manufacturing, and distribution. With advanced algorithms enabling faster data analysis, predictive modelling, and automation, AI is significantly reducing research timelines, improving accuracy, and enhancing decision-making across the sector.

Therefore, this expo will showcase pharmaceutical products, advanced machinery, and technological innovations to buyers from major markets such as India, China, the US, and Germany. This event provides a powerful platform to establish and expand your business by connecting with active global suppliers seeking collaborations within the Indian pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors. Engaging with new investors and industry peers creates valuable opportunities and mutually beneficial partnerships.

Exhibiting at PharmaTech Expo will enable one to reach out to hundreds of regions most influential and key decision-making professionals at one place; network with key players in the high-value, high-quality fine & specialty pharmaceutical market.  In addition, industry can source the latest solutions, products and technology available, also connect with new suppliers and manufacturers from all around the world under one roof, said Shah.

Novel advances to boost pharma manufacturing
Innovative developments will definitely propel pharmaceutical manufacturing. It is here the growth of the new advanced isolator-based filling line, marks a major advancement in India’s sterile injectable manufacturing landscape.

In a bid to achieve higher compliance confidence, with regulators and consumers, there are advanced cooling systems, backup power, insulated racking, and validated storage zones meeting GDP (good distribution practice) standards are commanding rental premiums of 20–30 per cent.

Higher cost is justified by reduced spoilage, regulatory confidence, and the ability to handle sensitive products. Cold-chain-ready, in-city warehouses are engineered to eliminate this risk. They deploy IoT-enabled sensors and cloud-based dashboards that provide real-time alerts, ensuring continuous monitoring. For pharma, this means faster fulfilment and reduced wastage.

Another development is the InstaPill technology platform, which specializes in the development and production of Orally Disintegrating Tablets (ODTs), utilizing proprietary lyophilization (freeze-drying) and automation techniques to create fast-dissolving, water-free tablets that improve patient adherence, particularly for those with swallowing difficulties.

As a B2B Contract Development & Manufacturing Organization (CDMO), it provides comprehensive services from formulation and taste-masking to regulatory approval and commercial supply, all supported by advanced automated facilities and global compliance standards.

Globally, collaboration between pharmaceutical companies, biotech start-ups, and technology firms have shifted the focus towards real-world evidence, AI-powered analytics, and cloud-enabled platforms that connect laboratories, regulators.  All this will spur conversations at the PharmaTech Expo, said Shah.
