The academic calendar in Indore in Madhya Pradesh was marked by vibrant celebrations of the 64th National Pharmacy Week (NPW) by the Smriti College of Pharmaceutical Education (SCOPE) and the Modern Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MIPS). These institutions organized extensive programmes last week, each strongly aligned with the national theme, ‘Pharmacists as Advocates of Vaccination’. The events highlighted the crucial role of pharmacists in public health and showcased a commitment to fostering well-rounded pharmaceutical professionals. The five-day celebration at Smriti College of Pharmaceutical Education commenced with high-energy sports tournaments, promoting physical fitness and team spirit. Students enthusiastically participated in matches such as Cricket SPL and Volleyball, alongside traditional Indian games like Kho-Kho and the competitive Tug of War. This emphasis on active participation, which Principal Dr. Neelesh Malviya commended, was a central feature, supported by a lively food stall that added to the festive atmosphere. The subsequent days at SCOPE were dedicated to showcasing physical stamina and teamwork in further competitive events. Students demonstrated their coordination in Kabaddi, the speed of the Relay Race, and traditional games like Rumal Jhapatta. An exciting Treasure Hunt further tested their problem-solving and collaborative skills. Preliminary rounds for Badminton were also conducted to shortlist the top players for the final rounds. The focus then shifted to academic and cognitive excellence with key technical and indoor competitions. Students presented their research and innovative ideas in Poster Presentations and the Working Model Competition, which promoted analytical thinking and innovation in pharmaceutical concepts. Simultaneously, indoor strategic games including chess, carrom, and puzzle solving helped to sharpen their critical thinking abilities. Creativity took centre stage in the latter half of the celebration with the Rangoli and Fireless Cooking competitions, allowing students to showcase their artistic and culinary talents. A vibrant Selfie Zone, curated by Smita Nagar, proved to be a popular attraction for student interaction. The festivities at SCOPE culminated with the thrilling Badminton Finals and the much-awaited Cricket SPL Finals, followed by a formal Valedictory Ceremony where winners across all categories were felicitated. The Modern Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MIPS) inaugurated its four-day celebration with a grand ceremony, graced by chairman Dr Anil Kharia and head of institute Dr. Sapna Malviya. Their insightful addresses emphasized the pharmacist’s indispensable role in strengthening public health and promoting vaccine literacy. The first cultural event, the Pharma Rangoli Competition, saw participants creating intricate designs that beautifully illustrated themes of vaccination, disease prevention, and global health awareness. A significant component was the spirited Pharma Rally, a public outreach effort where students marched with banners and informative posters. This rally served as a community service initiative, effectively spreading awareness among the local population about the importance of timely vaccination and preventive healthcare, directly embodying the NPW theme. The scientific model presentation was a key academic highlight at MIPS, demonstrating the students' strong scientific understanding and technical skills. Exhibits covered a broad spectrum, ranging from vaccination mechanisms and immunological responses.
