Dhanwantari College of Pharmacy observes 64th National Pharmacy Week with IPA-KTK and IIC

Dhanwantari College of Pharmacy, Chikkabanavara, Bengaluru, in association with IPA Karnataka State Branch (IPA KSB) and  Institution Innovation Council (IIC) observed the 64th National Pharmacy Week (NPW) aimed at increasing  awareness about vaccination to the  students and the community, thus citing the importance of the profession of pharmacy.

Evolving around the NPW 2025 theme: ‘Pharmacists as Advocates of Vaccination’, various activities were conducted.  Prof RN Gupta, national president, Indian Pharmaceutical Association, was the chief guest, who addressed on the Career Opportunities in Pharmacy and highlighted the need for competence on the job.

Ascertaining the importance of a competent pharmacist across  pharma manufacturing, testing, regulatory and pharmacy practice, Dr Gupta,  suggested avenues of patent, trademark, excise officers too additionally focusing on pharmacy entrepreneurship.  He called on the pharmacy students to be honest and sincere in the work they do.  Besides, he urged them to read pharma journals and magazines regularly to  stay updated about the development in the profession and to become proud members of the Indian Pharmaceutical Association. 

Arif Ahmed J, chairman, Dhanwantari Group of Institutions reaffirmed the role of pharmacy students in the  community via efficient  prescription dispensing to provide safe and effective therapy to the patients.

Dr Lakshmi Devi R, Dean, Dhanwantari Group of Institutions-Health Sciences appreciated the profession of pharmacy and for being the frontline workers which was  evident during Covid-19 pandemic. 

Dr BLR Madhavi, principal, Dhanwantari College of Pharmacy provided an overview of the  activities that were conducted for NPW 2025. A guest lecture was delivered by Chakrasthitha Ravichandra on the topic ‘Life Long Shield’ relating to vaccination for all age groups and role of pharmacists.

Student activities included theme based poster presentation, essay writing, reel making, reading, collages, drawing, painting, and treasure hunt. All the students participated and the dignitaries presented certificates to all the winners.

On the occasion of NPW 2025, teachers of Dhanwantari College of Pharmacy were presented tokens. A door to door vaccination awareness drive was carried out by the students of DCP with the support and association of Dhanwantari Hospital. Placards were written in Kannada, Hindi, Malayalam, Bengali, Urdu and English to educate the community about importance of taking vaccines. The students were initially trained and then sent into nearby localities for the awareness drive.  A total of 8 groups comprising 39 students volunteered for the awareness drive.
