In a landmark step toward building global AI readiness, the Academy of Digital Health Sciences and GenServe has announced the launch of the Global AI Academy, an international initiative designed to equip healthcare and technology leaders with practical, precision-based artificial intelligence expertise.

The Academy brings together two globally recognized pioneers. Dr. Rajendra Pratap Gupta, widely regarded as one of the foremost leaders shaping the domain of digital health worldwide, AI researcher, creator of the AI Maturity Model and the Functional AI Pyramid, and founder of the Academy of Digital Health Sciences.

Dr Ashish Atreja, former CIO and Chief Digital Health Officer of UC Davis Health, widely known as “The App Doctor,” is an internationally recognized physician executive and entrepreneur who has pioneered the creation of AI Centers of Excellence across health systems.

The Global AI Academy was formally launched at the India AI Summit 2026 by Aneesh Chopra, the first chief technology officer of the United States and former Assistant to U.S. President Barack Obama, and Dr. Rajeev Raghuvanshi, drugs controller general of India (DCGI).

Artificial intelligence is advancing rapidly, yet the world faces a profound shortage of structured AI education and leadership readiness, especially in healthcare, where implementation complexity remains a major barrier.

The Global AI Academy addresses this gap through a learner-centred model grounded in adult learning science and real-world application, integrating scientific rigor, practical relevance, and global collaboration.

“Every healthcare professional must return to the learning board. We cannot deliver 21st-century healthcare with 20th-century skills. AI is a transformative force reshaping industries globally. Yet the greatest gap and opportunity lie in the lack of AI education across all levels, from students to senior professionals. We are proud to partner with GenServe to democratize access to high-quality AI education worldwide, beginning with CEO and executive bootcamps.” Said, Dr. Rajendra Pratap Gupta, the co-founder and co-chair of the Global AI Academy.

Commenting on the launch, the co-founder and co-chair, Dr. Ashish Atreja said, “As AI innovation accelerates at lightning speed, its true impact will be determined by leaders who are deeply fluent in AI. Through strategic partnerships with industry, academia, and the public sector, the Global AI Academy equips leaders and clinicians with both the vision and practical skills to confidently drive human-led AI transformation, ensuring that no healthcare organization is left behind.’

At the core of the Academy are immersive leadership bootcamps designed for healthcare CEOs and hospital leadership teams, academic deans and institutional leaders, government and public-sector administrators, technology and health-tech innovators.

Participants will learn practical frameworks for strategic AI adoption, governance and risk management, organizational change management, clinical and operational value creation, financial sustainability in AI transformation.

Through scenario-based learning and peer exchange, organizations will learn not merely how to deploy AI, but how to align it with mission, outcomes, and long-term strategy.

The Academy will introduce an internship and entrepreneurship track connecting academia, startups, and healthcare systems, enabling emerging leaders to translate AI concepts into deployable solutions.

To ensure worldwide reach, the Academy will also offer Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), synthetic datasets for safe experimentation, hands-on practicum projects, certification pathways and global peer learning community.

The programmes are designed for learners across the professional spectrum- from students and residents to faculty, executives, and policymakers.

The Academy of Digital Health Sciences is a pioneering global institution dedicated to building capacity in digital health and healthcare transformation. Founded by Dr. Rajendra Pratap Gupta, the Academy has trained leaders across government, healthcare, and industry and is widely recognized for creating structured frameworks that help organizations transition into the AI-enabled era.

GenServe.AI is the leading platform for deploying vendor-agnostic generative AI that uses multiple large language models (LLM) in a secure, HIPAA-compliant manner, and deliver immediate value across clinical, operational, and administrative workflows. As part of its mission to enable AI Centres of Excellence, GenServe.AI is co-launching AI Academy to bring mission critical AI skills to healthcare executives, clinicians, employees and students.

The Global AI Academy invites healthcare systems, governments, universities, and health-tech companies worldwide to collaborate in shaping the next generation of AI-ready institutions.
