International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) has launched a bold new Strategic Plan 2025-2030 to guide the global pharmacy profession into the future. Building on more than a century of leadership since its founding in 1912, FIP is reaffirming its commitment to advancing health worldwide through the power of pharmacy — uniting pharmacists, pharmaceutical scientists, and educators in a shared mission to improve health outcomes for all.
As the global healthcare landscape faces unprecedented challenges — from workforce shortages and economic pressures to rapid technological change and the growing impact of climate crises — FIP’s new strategy sets a clear direction for transformation. The plan outlines how FIP and its members will strengthen the global pharmacy workforce, promote innovation and sustainability, and ensure equitable access to medicines and quality care across all regions.
At the heart of the plan is FIP’s ‘ONE FIP’ approach, a unifying vision that brings together pharmacy practice, pharmaceutical sciences, and education under one global movement. By fostering collaboration across disciplines and borders, FIP aims to amplify the profession’s voice, shape progressive health policies, and ensure pharmacists are equipped to meet evolving health needs.
The strategy focuses on several key priorities, including: supporting the economic sustainability of pharmacy practice; driving digital transformation and innovation in healthcare delivery; embedding sustainability and climate resilience across pharmaceutical sectors. Besides it aligns with the FIP Development Goals (DGs) and UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to promote health equity and planetary wellbeing.
“Pharmacy is evolving, and FIP is leading that evolution,” said Paul Sinclair AM, president, FIP. “This Strategic Plan is a call to action for our members, partners, and global health collaborators to work together to strengthen pharmacy’s contribution to society and build a healthier, more resilient world by 2030.”
Through this strategy, FIP reaffirms its dedication to empowering the global pharmacy community, driving scientific and technological progress, and ensuring that pharmacists everywhere are recognised as essential healthcare providers. United in purpose and guided by science, FIP will continue to advance pharmacy worldwide, for the health of people and the planet.
