Nethradhama Super Speciality Eye Hospital, collaborates with London Vision Clinic (LoVC), to conduct the Forefront Refractive Surgery Course (APAC Edition) in Bengaluru, India. The course is aimed at advancing ophthalmic education by enhancing the skills of practitioners in refractive surgery through structured training and international knowledge exchange.

The six-day surgical fellowship programme scheduled from September 26 to October 1, 2025 will cover LASIK, PRESBYOND Laser Blended Vision, and SMILE, focusing on practical aspects such as patient selection, surgical technique, complication management, and long-term treatment planning. The course will provide ophthalmologists and trainees with a comprehensive understanding of contemporary refractive surgery, thereby enabling them to integrate these procedures into practice with greater precision and confidence.

The course will be led by Professor Dan Z Reinstein, medical director, London Vision Clinic; Dr. Sri Ganesh, chairman and managing director, Nethradhama Super Speciality Eye Hospital; and Dr. Supriya Samak Sriganesh, executive director, of Nethradhama.

Prof. Dr. Sri Ganesh said, “The collaboration with London Vision Clinic underscores the value of international partnerships in medical education. By bringing together global expertise and local experience, we aim to create a platform that not only strengthens clinical capabilities but also fosters the exchange of knowledge that will benefit refractive surgery outcomes across Asia.”

“Refractive surgery is advancing rapidly, and it is essential that ophthalmologists have access to the latest surgical insights and global best practices. This collaboration with Nethradhama creates an important platform to share knowledge across regions and to support the wider adoption of innovative techniques that can raise the standard of care for patients,” said Professor Dan Z Reinstein, medical director of London Vision Clinic.

The programme further extends beyond theoretical learning by incorporating video-based demonstrations and in-depth case discussions, enabling participants to engage directly with the finer aspects of surgical practice.

“The Forefront Refractive Surgery Course represents an important step in advancing ophthalmic education in the region. By integrating detailed modules on LASIK, PRESBYOND Laser Blended Vision, and SMILE, supported by surgical demonstrations and practical training, the programme has been designed to equip ophthalmologists with the necessary skills and confidence to incorporate these procedures effectively into their practice,” added Dr. Ganesh.

Over the initial three days, the course will cover core modules in LASIK, PRESBYOND Laser Blended Vision, and SMILE, offering participants 24 EACCME-accredited credits. This will be followed by a Hands-On Practical Course from September 29 to October 1, 2025, providing supervised surgical training to help participants practice and strengthen the skills learned during the main sessions. Participants will also have access to educational resources such as lecture materials, book chapters, and peer-reviewed publications, said the ophthalmology care major.
