Biocon Group chairperson Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw has been honoured with the Honorary Fellowship of the Academy of Medical Sciences (UK) in recognition of her contributions to the advancement of healthcare, biomedical sciences and global access to affordable medicines. An Honorary Fellowship is one of the Academy’s highest distinctions awarded to distinguished individuals who have made outstanding contributions to advancing medical science and improving healthcare outcomes globally. The recognition spotlights Kiran’s pioneering role in establishing India’s biotech sector and building a globally respected biopharmaceutical enterprise, and her unwavering commitment to drive major advances in affordable biologics for cancer, diabetes and autoimmune diseases by leveraging science, in order to address unmet medical needs. According to Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, “I am honoured to be elected an Honorary Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences, which I greatly admire for its leadership in scientific excellence, policy influence and global collaboration. The elected dignitaries will join an esteemed cohort of over 50 Honorary Fellows.
