LEAD_3_BDMAI.jpgThe Bulk Drug Manufacturers Association of India (BDMAI) will actively promote its e-Marketing Portal at national pharmaceutical exhibitions and in international markets, with support from Indian Embassies and Missions abroad, to enhance global outreach for Indian bulk drug manufacturers, informs A P Rameshwara Rao, national president, BDMAI.

With a vision to exclusively promote Indian bulk drugs and enhance the global visibility of Indian manufacturers, the BDMAI has developed a dedicated e-Marketing Portal for the industry. The Indian bulk drug industry comprises manufacturers of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), intermediates, pellets, impurities, and providers of contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO)/contract research organization (CRO) services.

“While the industry, particularly small and medium enterprises, has developed strong manufacturing capabilities, many units face limitations in active and structured marketing, both in domestic and international markets,” says Roja Rani, executive director, BDMAI.

Salient Features of the BDMAI e-Marketing Portal include free listing for BDMAI members. This feature will help all BDMAI members to update and manage their company profiles, including products, key contacts, manufacturing facilities, and quality accreditations, at no cost.

It offers free registration for buyers.  Indian and overseas buyers including finished formulation manufacturers and traders can register on the portal free of charge. The Portal is open to pharma associations also. Members of major Indian pharmaceutical associations such as Pharmaceutical Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil) and Indian Drug Manufacturers’ Association (IDMA) among others can join the portal as Associate Members by paying a nominal annual fee.

“To create a one-stop ecosystem for the bulk drug industry, the portal includes a vendor management system. Vendors such as suppliers of chemicals, engineering solutions, instruments, equipment, and industry-related services can register, list their products, and advertise their offerings at applicable charges. Registered buyers can search companies or products and send enquiries directly to manufacturers. The portal functions purely as a connectivity and promotion platform and does not facilitate or intervene in commercial transactions,” Roja Rani further informs.

Activities of BDMAI include representing members’ collective concerns on industry-related matters, publish and circulate papers, periodicals, books,  monthly e-Bulletin and circulars beneficial to the industry, bridge the gap between industry and academia by  providing skill development training to students at BDMAI Training Centre, organize recruitment drives in association with Universities and State Councils for Education and organize Pavilions exclusively for BDMAI members to promote their products.
