Merck partnered with Indian Institute of Science (IISc) engaged students, families, and science enthusiasts throughout the day with interactive demonstrations that made complex scientific concepts.

This was on the occasion of the IISc Open Day 2026 which is an annual tradition that opens the institute's doors to the public, offering visitors the opportunity to explore research laboratories, scientific demonstrations, and exhibits across campus. This year, Merck once again participated as an active partner, setting up a dedicated stall where volunteers conducted a diverse range of SPARK activities.

These carefully designed experiments introduced visitors to fundamental scientific principles including the Science Behind Fingerprints, Natural Indicators, Refraction of Light, and Food Adulteration detection. The hands-on approach allowed participants to experience science firsthand rather than simply reading about it.

Visitors also participated in interactive learning activities including science crosswords, quizzes, periodic table puzzles, and scrambled word challenges.

Participants returned to the Merck stall multiple times, asking thought-provoking questions that kept volunteers on their toes. This reaffirmed that scientific curiosity is alive and well. Merck’s in IISc Open Day 2026 reflects the company's ongoing commitment to science education and its dedication to nurturing curiosity and scientific thinking among young learners—a mission embodied in the SPARK program that has reached over 55,000 students across 26 countries in 2025 alone, said the communication note.
