Exports of Ayush and herbal products for the month of January, 2026, declined 7.63% at $51.91 million compared to $56.2 million registered in the same month of previous fiscal year. This is following a decline of over 16% reported in the month of December, 2025, on a Year-over-Year (YoY) basis.
The decline in value terms during the month is despite a 3.5% growth in quantity of exports at 11,936.8 MT during January, 2026, compared to 11,534.2 MT during the same month a year ago.
In rupee terms, exports reported a decline of 2.76% in during the month, at Rs. 471.39 crore, as compared to Rs. 484.78 crore registered in January, 2025, according to data from the Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence and Statistics (DGCI&S).
Cumulative exports during the first ten months of the fiscal year witnessed a decline of 7.07% at $523.58 million as compared to $565.68 million registered in the same period a year ago.
In rupee terms, the cumulative exports from April, 2025 to January, 2026 witnessed a decline of 3.67% at Rs. 4,582.88 crore, as compared to Rs. 4,757.72 crore in the corresponding period of previous year.
In terms of quantity, decline during the ten months was around 1% at 1,03,173.7 MT as against 1,04,219.5 MT during the same period last year.
Imports of Ayush and herbal products during the month of January declined to $12.65 million from $14.41 million on a YoY basis. In rupee terms, this was a decline of 7.62% to Rs. 114.82 crore as against Rs. 124.30 crore in the same month of last year.
Quantity of imports grew by 9.22% at 9,834.8 MT compared to 9004.6 MT during the corresponding month last year.
Imports of Ayush and herbal products during the ten months from April, 2025 to January, 2026 grew 31.16% to $163.82 million from $124.9 million on a YoY basis. In rupee terms, this was a growth of 36.34% growth at Rs. 1,433.5 crore as against Rs. 1,051.4 crore in the same period of last year.
In terms of quantity, the growth was 19.34% at 97,597.6 MT as against 81,776.6 MT reported last year.
As reported earlier, exports reported a decline of 7.42% during the first nine months of the fiscal year 2025-26, at $471.67 million compared to $509.49 million during the corresponding period of previous fiscal year.
Exports of Ayush and herbal products have registered a growth of 6.11 per cent, increasing from $649.2 million in 2023–24 to $688.89 million in 2024–25, according to the Ministry of Ayush.
The Ministry of Ayush has established Ayush Export Promotion Council (Ayushexcil) to promote Ayush products and services globally by the Ministry of Ayush and supported by the Union Ministry of Commerce. The Council observed its 4th Establishment Anniversary recently in New Delhi in India’s efforts to promote exports of traditional systems of medicine and wellness products.
As Ayushexcil enters its fifth year, the Council aims to further strengthen international cooperation, leverage opportunities under Free Trade Agreements, promote quality and certification frameworks, and enhance global acceptance of India’s traditional systems of medicine, said the Ministry in January, this year.
